- Comp: Competitive hourly rate (contract to hire)
- Must Have: 4+ years of Python + Production FastAPI experience with async job processing
We’re hiring an experienced Python Backend Engineer to help bring an AI-native SaaS platform to market. This role will own critical backend work including API design, asynchronous job processing, and deployment optimization.
You’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy, partnering directly with the CTO and collaborating with an offshore engineering team. This is a hands‑on execution role with meaningful ownership and visibility as the company prepares for product launch.
What You’ll Do- Build and extend a Python FastAPI backend that serves internally developed AI models
- Ship production-ready APIs with strong reliability, monitoring, and operational hygiene
- Improve Docker containerization and optimize build and deployment performance
- Enhance CI/CD automation and deployment workflows in Azure
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with AI engineers and offshore developers to ensure scalable, production‑grade systems
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Python depth
- Proven production experience with FastAPI (not just Django or Flask)
- Hands‑on experience implementing async job queues, background workers, webhooks, and long‑running task workflows
- Strong understanding of Docker, container optimization, and deployment best practices
- Experience working in Azure cloud environments, with familiarity in infrastructure‑as‑code concepts such as Terraform
- Comfortable operating semi‑autonomously and communicating effectively across time zones
- Pragmatic, execution‑focused mindset — able to ship and improve systems without heavy oversight
You’ll have meaningful ownership over the backend architecture of an AI‑driven SaaS platform preparing for market launch. This is an opportunity to shape deployment standards, API patterns, and production readiness from the ground up — without layers of bureaucracy.
For the right engineer, this role offers visibility, autonomy, and the chance to become a foundational U.S.
-based engineering presence as the company scales.
