Lead Software Engineer

Overview

The Platform Center of Excellence (COE) – Software is a core engineering organization within Honeywell Aerospace Technologies that develops and maintains the foundational software platforms used across Honeywell’s aerospace products. This team builds the common, reusable, and safety‑critical software components that enable product and application teams to deliver advanced avionics, mission‑critical, and flight‑certified systems for commercial, defense, and space customers worldwide.

The Platform COE focuses on low‑level and system software, including platform architecture, middleware, device drivers, networking stacks, and real‑time operating system (RTOS) integration. These software platforms support a wide range of aerospace applications such as avionics and mission computers, guidance and navigation systems, satellite payload processing, and other flight‑critical embedded systems. Because these platforms are used across multiple programs and products, the team plays a key role in improving software quality, scalability, reuse, and compliance with aerospace safety and certification standards.

• Lead project teams of software engineers to design, develop, and deliver cutting‑edge software solutions.
• Drive technical excellence, ensuring project success and contributing to the overall growth of the software engineering team.
• Provide technical guidance, ensuring timely deliveries, and collaborating with business leaders to align with overarching business objectives.
• Lead software architecture, design, best practices, for platform design and development across aero products.
• Oversee Level A certification of the Boot, Platform Abstraction Layer (PAL), Device Drivers, Middleware IO, and network/communication stacks.

• Reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
• Works out of Deer Valley, AZ on a Hybrid work schedule.
