Overview

The Staff Software Engineer designs, builds, and deploys production‑grade AI and software systems that support retail store operations, associate productivity, and customer experience. This role operates at the intersection of software engineering, data, and AI, partnering with Product and Business teams to translate requirements into scalable, reliable, and high‑impact solutions, working to achieve operational targets with significant impact on departmental results.

• Design, build, and deploy AI/ML and Generative AI solutions.
• Translate business problems into scalable technical implementations.
• Build reusable components, including APIs, AI services, and modular frameworks.
• Develop POCs and prototypes to validate new approaches.

• Implement MLOps best practices, such as CI/CD for models, monitoring and retraining, and versioning.
• Build pipelines for training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Monitor model performance, drift, and reliability.

• Integrate AI services into enterprise systems and workflows.
• Partner with data teams to ensure high‑quality data pipelines.
• Optimize systems for performance, scalability, and cost.
• Implement RAG architectures and vector database integrations.

• Partner with Product and Business teams to understand requirements, refine problem statements, and deliver effective solutions.
• Ensure solutions align with business goals, customer needs, and operational constraints.

• Build production‑ready, supportable systems and, if necessary, conduct detailed analysis, investigation and process modifications.
• Participate in incident management, root‑cause analysis, and system improvements.
• Ensure strong logging, monitoring, and observability.

• Follow best practices in code quality, testing, and Dev Ops.
• Contribute to design reviews, engineering standards, and documentation.

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering or 2 years in AI/ML.
• Strong proficiency in Python, ML frameworks (PyTorch, Tensor Flow, scikit‑learn).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), APIs and distributed systems, and data pipelines.

• Experience with MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, Sage Maker).
• Experience with LLMs / GenAI / NLP.
