Position Overview

As a Software Engineer Sr within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Phoenix, AZ, Dallas, TX, Cleveland, OH, Strongsville, OH, or Birmingham, AL. Job Profile- Provides detailed technical design and development of software solutions using existing and emerging technology platforms.
- Proposes and designs software solutions to address complex business needs.
- Writes code, tests and deploys software.
- Prepares technical and procedural documentation required for software.
- Maintains and debugs software.
- 7+ years of hands‑on experience developing, enhancing, and supporting IBM z/OS mainframe applications in large‑scale, regulated enterprise environments.
- Advanced proficiency in COBOL, JCL, and CICS, supporting both online transaction processing and complex batch workflows.
- Proven ability to understand, refactor, and modernize large, complex legacy codebases while maintaining system stability and performance.
- Deep experience with mainframe source control and deployment tooling used in enterprise financial institutions, including Endevor or successor platforms, and an understanding of enterprise promotion and audit controls.
- Strong working knowledge of enterprise batch scheduling tools (e.g., CA‑7, Control‑M) and end‑to‑end batch dependency management.
- Experience working within mainframe security frameworks, including ACF2 concepts, privileged access controls, and separation‑of‑duties requirements.
