Backend Software Engineer

Summary

We are launching a greenfield product and building a newly assembled cross‑functional team to deliver it. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will define, build, and scale the backend foundation from inception through production, applying best practices and modern frameworks within an enterprise environment. You will collaborate closely with a full‑stack team to deliver intuitive, high‑quality user experiences from MVP through full production.

• Design and develop backend services for a new product using Type Script and NestJS or similar frameworks.
• Contribute to architectural decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and long‑term maintainability.
• Build and maintain APIs and backend services that support data‑driven and ML‑enabled features.
• Develop and manage data access layers using Prisma or equivalent ORM technologies.
• Containerize backend services using Docker and support deployment into enterprise‑managed environments.
• Help mature early‑stage prototypes and MVPs into production‑ready systems.
• Ensure backend systems meet enterprise standards for performance, security, and operational stability.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical documentation.
• Balance rapid product iteration with enterprise engineering best practices.

• 3+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Type Script and hands‑on experience with NestJS or similar Node.js frameworks (e.g., Express, Fastify).
• Experience using Prisma or other modern ORM libraries.
• Practical experience with Docker in development and production environments.
• Demonstrated experience taking an MVP or prototype to production.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, API design, and database fundamentals.
• Comfortable collaborating across multiple disciplines in a product‑focused team.

• Experience with Python.
• Familiarity with Angular (helpful but not required).
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience supporting data‑intensive or ML‑enabled applications.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment workflows.

This role is based in either Austin, Texas or Phoenix, Arizona. It interfaces with teams distributed across multiple geographies and functions, requiring strong communication and organizational skills. Periodic travel to divisions, customer sites, events, and ASSA ABLOY offices is expected, with domestic or international travel up to 10%.
