Senior Embedded Software Engineer, C​/C++ - AEROSPACE

About the Role

As an Advance Software Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will perform software development activities for the Next Generation Flight Management System (NGFMS), focusing on User Interface, Datalink, and Connected FMS functionalities.

You will work out of Phoenix, AZ on a hybrid schedule. No relocation offered.

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment in compliance with DO-178B/C guidelines.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define project requirements and deliver high‑quality software solutions.
• Contribute to the development of software documentation and user manuals.
• Design and develop new features and functions.
• Implement Software Change Requests.
• Assess in‑service issues, debug and solve problems.
• Support the Verification and Validation team.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
• Proficient in Embedded C/C++ programming.
• 5 years of experience in avionics or real‑time embedded software development.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies and build/debug tool chains.
• Knowledge of software configuration management and change management practices.
• Willingness to solve real‑time concurrent execution challenges in a multicore environment.
• Strong background in data‑driven architecture design and development.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

• Master’s degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Control Systems, Electrical/Electronic, or equivalent).
• Experience with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Git Hub Copilot, Claude Code) and generative AI concepts.
• Expertise in DO-178B/C standards and processes.
• Experience in avionics or FMS product software development.
• Experience developing new features and solving complex issues in User Interface functions.
• Lab experience testing and verifying system and software requirements.
• Self‑motivated, able to work with little supervision and take initiative.
• Effective multitasking and management of complex tasks.
• Collaborative team player with diverse thought and global engineering experience.
• Passion for technology and continuous learning.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
