Job Description
As Advanced Software Engineer within the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) organization at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and management of complex systems and solutions that drive innovation, safety, and efficiency in the aerospace industry. Working within cross‑functional teams on cutting‑edge projects, you will shape the future of aerospace technology and help transform the way aircraft operate.
During this role you will work on next‑generation and new product development projects, directly contributing to the advancement of aviation technology in the Airborne Traffic, Collision Avoidance & Surveillance Avionics space. You will own systems engineering development at every stage of the system’s life cycle and report directly to our Sr Engineering Manager while working out of Phoenix, AZ on a hybrid schedule.
- Drive customer engagement while delivering programs on schedule, within scope, and on budget.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
- Exhibit excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high‑quality software solutions in accordance with project specifications.
- Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices.
- Ensure the timely and successful delivery of software projects within scope and budget.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software engineering.
- Code in multiple programming languages.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Assembly.
- Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
- Understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architecture principles.
- Ability to manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies effectively.
- Familiarity with RF communications.
- Familiarity with JIRA and Bitbucket.
- Experience with signal processing, test, and embedded software.
- Knowledge of Avionics functions such as TCAS, Transponder, ADS‑B, DME, and UAT.
- Preferred experience working with defense customers.
- Strong communication skills and passion for innovation.
- Self‑motivated with strong initiative and ability to work independently.
- Adaptability to project changes and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
