• Design and implement the athletic program for assigned sport(s) in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Supervise other coaching personnel and students during all aspects of the program.
• Use sound instructional techniques to oversee program activities; serve as a positive role model to student athletes.
• Act as a liaison with the school, program, community, and external organizations.
• Oversee all aspects of the respective athletic program(s) for assigned sport(s).
• Provide supervision and guidance to assistant coaches, student managers, volunteers, and other staff.
• Promote the athletic program through community engagement and participation activities.
• Respond to inquiries from students, parents, school personnel, media, and college representatives with information and direction.
• Keep the athletic director informed of issues impacting the program (e.g., liability concerns, parent concerns).
• Ensure appropriate and prudent supervision of all athletes and students involved in the program.
• Explain and discuss the PVUSD Athletic Code of Conduct with all athletes in the program.
• Maintain high standards of personal conduct and serve as a role model.
• Ensure that all coaches involved with the program, whether paid or volunteer, are cleared through PVUSD Human Resources.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Minimum requirements

• Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  Adapt to changing work priorities; administer first aid; apply laws, codes, policies, and regulations; coordinate activities with other schools, districts, and/or agencies; organize and communicate information; oversee financial transactions.
• Knowledge:
  Community support organizations and public relations; equipment used in activity/program; injury prevention and appropriate treatment; laws, codes, policies, regulations; participant eligibility, attendance, discipline; safety practices.
• Ability:
  Communicate with diverse audiences; handle interruptions; demonstrate leadership; maintain confidentiality; meet deadlines; model sportsmanship and enforce conduct; motivate student athletes; provide firm, fair discipline; provide leadership and team building; travel to off-campus events; extended hours including evenings/weekends.

• Responsibilities include working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing others within a small work unit; potential use of resources from other units.
• Work environment includes physical demands and temperature variations; standard safety considerations.
• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications/Tests:
  Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate or Valid Arizona Substitute Certificate; NFHS Level 2 Certificate.
• Clearances:
  Criminal Background Clearance; IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• FLSA Status:
  Non Exempt.
