Job DescriptionTITLE: Crossing Guard
JOB DESCRIPTIONProvide assistance to children crossing the street. Maintain children's safety in traffic.
QUALIFICATIONS- Education equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED preferred
- State of Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
- No previous experience required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist children crossing streets.
- Move 15-mph zone and school crossing signs into and out of the street.
- Utilize proper hand signs as required.
- Adhere to regulations and guidelines governing school crossings.
- Ensure safety of pedestrians using assigned cross walks.
- Report problems with students or traffic.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of traffic regulations pertaining to school and pedestrian crossings
- Knowledge of traffic control devices
- Skill in interacting with the public, especially children
- Ability to communicate orally
- Exposure to traffic hazards
- Potential physical harm
- Exposure to outdoor elements
May be required to move signs weighing up to 25 lbs. into and out of the street.
