About This Position
The City of Phoenix Fleet Service Dispatch - Support Services Aide plays a vital role in maintaining a fleet of over 8,000 vehicles that support essential city operations. This position ensures timely, efficient roadside assistance by handling dispatch calls and digital service requests, coordinating resources, and maintaining clear communication among drivers, service providers, and internal teams.
Responsibilities Include- Operating base radios and multi‑line telephones to transmit accurate information.
- Scheduling equipment use.
- Updating multiple logs and records to ensure compliance and operational continuity.
- Managing multiple incoming phone calls while simultaneously handling two‑way radio communications.
- Using computerized databases for adding, deleting, and revising records.
- Demonstrating excellent multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Answer and process incoming calls and digital requests for roadside assistance, collecting essential details such as location, vehicle type, and issue.
- Communicate effectively with co‑workers, customers, clients, and the public via telephone, two‑way radios, and base radios, ensuring accurate and timely information exchange.
- Dispatch appropriate service providers or rovers (tow trucks, mechanics, etc.) based on location, availability, and service requirements.
- Track dispatched jobs in real time, monitor progress, and provide updates to customers on estimated arrival times.
- Collaborate with operations, safety, and logistics teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of service requests, dispatch details, and outcomes for compliance and reporting.
- Demonstrate superior customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Flexibility to work off‑shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours is essential to support citywide operations.
IDEAL CANDIDATE Knowledge Of- Office procedures (filing, business correspondence, answering phones, etc.) and equipment.
- Proficiency with fleet management systems (software such as Assetworks, Samsara, etc.).
- Business software such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, e‑mail, calendaring, and the Internet.
- Organization, policies, and operating procedures of the department.
- Use a personal computer and other common office equipment.
Pay Range: $19.54 to $35.08 per hour.
Hiring Range: $19.54 to $28.86 per hour.
- Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer; the actual salary will consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

- Two years of responsible clerical work experience including the ability to maintain financial records, perform basic mathematical calculations, operate base radios/telephone equipment, order and dispense supplies, and deal with the public.

- Some positions require use of personal or City vehicles on City business; candidates must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license, and have an acceptable driving record.
