Position Purpose

CDL Drivers must hold a valid CDL driver license. Drivers work as part of a crew and may also operate equipment or provide general labor.

Preferred experience:

crack seal, sealcoat, chip seal, slurry seal, striping.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment such as trucks, screeds, rollers, pavers, paving finishing machines, paving curbing machines, and front end loaders to apply asphalt products according to job specifications.
  • Know, understand, and comply with all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). well as state and local regulations.
  • Ensure the vehicle is road‑worthy before leaving the yard or jobsite; coordinate repairs with mechanics.
  • Inspect truck and trailer before and after trips, complete DVIRs, and log driving hours in compliance with state, federal, and local laws.
  • Participate in job‑site and safety meetings and complete all company‑related training.
  • Communicate with paver operators, truck drivers, and general laborers as a constant contact.
  • Operate trucks to transport equipment and assist in equipment maintenance; inspect, clean, and maintain machinery.
  • Set up and tear down equipment; maintain a clean job site and secure the site each day.
  • Serve as a front‑line company representative and provide excellent service to customers and the public.
  • Use hand tools (rakes, shovels, wheel barrels, etc.) for general labor work; perform other general labor duties as assigned.

Safety

Work is performed on professional construction sites. Duties require verbal communication on site, reading printed materials, and using tools and machinery weighing up to 50 lbs. The job demands climbing stairs, ladders, and navigating uneven surfaces, working outside in all weather, and exposure to chemicals, vapors, noise, moving vehicles, and dust/debris. Workers must follow local, state, and federal safety guidelines.

Position Type / Expected Hours

Full‑time. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Must be willing to travel to any jobsite, including extended stays away from home.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 6 months to 1 year related experience preferred.
  • Meet FMCSA English proficiency requirements under 49 CFR 391.11(b)(2) – ability to read, speak, and understand English and highway signs.
  • Current Class A CDL license in the state where the majority of work is performed;
    Hazmat or tanker endorsement may be required.
  • Pass DOT physical and maintain a current medical card.
  • Pass a DOT test and a safety road test.
