Job Summary
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks with front‑, side‑, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on the line of business and the type of truck. Drivers transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial drivers provide pick‑up service of containers filled with waste or recyclable material, which may weigh over 1,000 lbs and require maneuvering of wheeled containers to a pick‑up stage.
Residential drivers collect household waste or recyclable material, maneuvering through residential environments. Roll‑off drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations, navigating driveways, alleyways, lots, and high‑traffic roadways.
- Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and all applicable laws.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and document checks using the standard DVIR.
- Report all unsafe situations or service‑related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required.
- Work with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify Operations Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Notify Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions such as closed streets, impassable alleyways, excessively heavy receptacles, or safety hazards.
- Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer location clean and free of debris.
- Follow route assignments and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.
- Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or 1 year of equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
- Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
- Successfully complete pre‑employment screening, including drug screen and physical.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A with an air‑brake endorsement or Class B with an air‑brake endorsement.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
- Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, hearing.
