Job Summary

As a BHT Transportation Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and providing transportation services for individuals receiving behavioral health treatment. You will ensure the safe and efficient transportation of clients to and from appointments, treatment facilities, and other designated locations, while maintaining a compassionate and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate transportation schedules and routes to ensure timely arrival and departure for clients.
  • Provide transportation services using company vehicles or coordinating alternative transportation options as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including mileage, pick‑up, and drop‑off times.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of clients during transportation, including assisting individuals with mobility challenges or special needs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, treatment providers, and other team members to coordinate logistics and address concerns or special requirements.
  • Follow all relevant safety protocols and procedures, including vehicle maintenance and adherence to traffic laws.
  • Provide assistance and support to clients as needed during transportation, including emotional support and crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive and client‑centered approach to transportation services.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with clients and stakeholders.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance transportation skills and knowledge of behavioral health issues.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in transportation or behavioral health preferred.

  • Peer support certification.
  • BHT certification or four consecutive years as a BHT.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Fingerprint clearance card.
  • Current annual TB test.
  • CPI preferred but not required.
  • Experience using EMR's and completing transportation notes.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience working in transportation or a related field, preferably in a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude toward individuals with behavioral health needs.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations, with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of local transportation resources and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and drive for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed to assist clients.
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment background check and drug screening.
Background and Screening
  • All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check, verification of employment history, education, criminal records, and other relevant information.
  • Candidates must pass a drug screening test as a condition of employment, which may include random testing during employment.
  • Candidates must also pass an APS (Adult Protective Services) registry check before an offer of employment can be extended.
  • All information obtained during background checks, drug screenings, and APS registry checks will be kept confidential and used solely for employment purposes.
