Essential Functions
Performs daily pre‑trip inspection of bus; drives assigned bus route and scheduled field trips; cleans bus; maintains assigned equipment, establishes rapport with children, parents and staff; delivers mail to other Head Start Centers; follows all safety procedures and policies and documents bus activities.
Minimum QualificationsAny combination of training and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and six (6) months of experience driving heavy vehicles or school buses. Must be able to work split shifts (6:30 a.m to 8:30 a.m or 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.) and be able to drive classroom field trips.
Must have knowledge of City of Chattanooga and Hamilton County streets. Must have Commercial Driver's License with proper endorsements.
Candidates must have a good driving record with at least five (5) years of unrestricted commercial driving experience AND be able to obtain a Child Care Certification from the Tennessee Dept. of Safety. Certifications in CPR and First Aid prior to hire are preferred. Will be required to take hearing, vision, TB and drug/alcohol tests after hire and submit to fingerprinting and a background investigation.
Gross pay is based on actual hours worked.
