Dispatcher, Transportation & Logistics, Transportation Manager
Basic Purpose
The Dispatcher will coordinate driver assignments and activities to ensure proper distribution service to our customers and will elevate any issues that risk service quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate driver activities and shuttle assignments to resolve service issues and reduce overtime, downtime, and hours of service violations.
- Complete attendance trackers and verify that drivers are using Omnitracs correctly.
- Ensure customers’ needs are met promptly and professionally, and elevate late dispatch, breakdown, or other service failures to managers and sales force.
- Reassign routes as needed to resolve service issues and ensure drivers log in and use the Proof of Delivery scanner.
- Coordinate trailer, tractor, and backhaul assignments to support efficient logistics operations.
- Visually inspect each driver’s appearance to confirm proper uniform and required PPE.
- Notify the manager/supervisor and safety specialist in the event of a vehicle accident or driver injury.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

The work occurs at a desk in an office as well as in warehouse environments, including cooler and freezer areas with temperatures as low as
-5°C.
- Minimum one year of transportation or logistics experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and customer service ability.
- Math, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities for limited‑scope problems.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to support colleagues.
- High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.
- Prior dispatcher experience.
- Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service Regulations and driver logs.
- Knowledge of the geographic delivery area.
- Stand, walk, and drive vehicle occasionally.
- Sit frequently.
- Lift 1‑10 lbs (occasionally), 11‑20 lbs (occasionally), and 21‑50 lbs (occasionally).
- Carry 1‑10 lbs (occasionally), 11‑20 lbs (occasionally), and 21‑50 lbs (occasionally).
- Push/pull, climb/balance, stoop/squat, kneel, bend, and twist occasionally.
- Reach above shoulder frequently.
- Grasp and manipulate objects occasionally.
- Manual dexterity (typing, office machines) frequently.
Base rate of $18 – $28 per hour, based on experience, education, location, and other applicable factors.
