Overview
Class D Box Truck Driver/Production Assistant is a full-time position. 40 hours per week at $19.00 per hour. Benefits include medical and dental coverage. The role supports the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) and Phoenix Distribution Center, and involves driving as part of the Operations Team to support the program and its participants.
The ARC is a no-fee program assisting individuals through rehabilitation. The Operations Team at The Salvation Army supports the distribution center and the program through dedicated service.
Responsibilities- Follow daily routing directions and avoid going off route without exception, unless directed by the Transportation Supervisor or designee.
- Manage time to ensure routes are completed within the approved work schedule; routes should be 100% completed each day unless approved otherwise.
- Safe loading and unloading of the assigned truck; assist with loading/unloading other trucks as requested.
- Train, instruct, and supervise truck helper in Work Therapy Assignment, modeling good personal and professional habits.
- Execute Bag & Tag procedures as instructed by the Supervisor.
- Provide courteous customer service; report donor problems or concerns during donation pickups to dispatch.
- Adhere to DOT regulations and state/local laws; maintain a safe driving record; attend driver safety meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Transportation Supervisor, Director of Production, or their designees.
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Strong time management and customer service skills
- Ability to operate electronic equipment used for daily route information
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files and carts
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
- Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks
- Work schedules are determined by management and require flexibility to ensure adequate coverage
