OBJECTIVE
Provide safe, reliable transportation and quality support to Gompers members while maintaining their health, safety, dignity, rights, and independence. The Driver/Float position provides transportation services and may be assigned to support other Gompers programs and departments based on operational and staffing needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
1. Transport members safely to and from Gompers programs, member residences, community locations, and other authorized destinations.
2. Maintain required transportation and program documentation, member accountability, safety, and vehicle cleanliness.
3. Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report safety concerns, damage, mechanical issues, or vehicle defects.
4. Participate in staff development programs and required training.
5. Protect and promote the dignity, privacy, confidentiality, human rights, civil rights, and individual choices of members at all times.
6. Assist with crisis prevention, de-escalation, and intervention as needed and within the scope of completed training.
7. Participate in in-service training sessions for growth and development as requested by the Director/Supervisor.
8. Follow emergency first aid, accident, incident, and emergency reporting procedures.
9. Operate Gompers vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, Gompers policies, and transportation procedures.
10. Assist members with safely entering and exiting vehicles, including mobility assistance as appropriate to the member’s needs and the employee’s training.
11. Maintain professional and respectful relationships with members, guardians, co-workers, community partners, and the public.
12. Maintain professional conduct and appearance consistent with Gompers expectations.
13. Complete and maintain required vehicle and member checklists accurately and timely.
14. Ensure all members are properly seated and secured using appropriate seat belts, wheelchair/mobility-device securement systems, and other required safety equipment before the vehicle is placed in motion.
15. Maintain member supervision and accountability during transportation and follow Gompers procedures regarding members remaining in or around vehicles.
16. Maintain regular and reliable attendance and report to assigned routes, programs, and work locations at scheduled times.
17. Immediately report accidents, incidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, safety concerns, and other reportable events in accordance with Gompers procedures.
FLOAT STAFF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
1. This is a full-time position generally scheduled for up to 40 hours per week based on organizational and program needs. In addition to assigned transportation routes, the employee may be assigned additional duties or hours within other Gompers programs or departments.
2. Provide staffing coverage in Gompers programs and departments as assigned based on operational needs, staffing levels, member needs, and the employee’s training and qualifications.
3. Report to the designated Supervisor or Director while working within an assigned department and follow applicable departmental procedures and expectations.
4. Complete required orientation and training before performing duties for which specific training or certification is required.
5. Perform direct support duties appropriate to the assigned program, which may include member supervision, assistance with activities of daily living, community participation, behavioral support, documentation, meal assistance, toileting, and other…
