Position Summary

The Tool Room Attendant supports construction operations by managing, tracking, and maintaining tools, equipment, hardware, consumables, and materials used in the field. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory control, efficient resource distribution, and proper documentation to support safe, productive, and continuous jobsite operations. The Tool Room Attendant works closely with field supervisors, foremen, vendors, and project personnel to maintain inventory accuracy and tool room organization in a fast-paced construction environment.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Manage inventory of tools, hardware, consumables, materials, and equipment.
  • Receive deliveries and verify quantities against packing slips, purchase orders, and delivery documentation.
  • Organize, maintain, and file incoming delivery paperwork and inventory records.
  • Issue, track, and document outgoing tools, materials, equipment, and orders to field personnel and foremen.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, tool assignment, and order-tracking records using company systems.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages, damaged items, lost tools, or replacement needs.
  • Conduct routine inventory counts and reconciliation activities to ensure record accuracy.
  • Inspect incoming tools, equipment, and materials for damage or discrepancies.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, secure, and efficient tool room environment.
  • Assist with stocking, labeling, organizing, and storing inventory items.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and project teams regarding material requests and inventory needs.
  • Support project operations by identifying and communicating material availability and constraints.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of tools, equipment, and consumable items.
  • Follow all safety procedures, site rules, and company policies.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and required site orientations.
  • Perform other inventory control and warehouse support duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred. Ability to work in a construction, warehouse, or industrial environment. Ability to maintain accurate records and inventory documentation. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel or similar tracking software. Ability to follow established procedures and work independently within assigned responsibilities.

Preferred
  • Previous experience in tool room operations, warehouse operations, inventory control, or construction support.
  • Experience using Excel, Smartsheet, inventory management software, or similar tracking systems.
  • General knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Experience supporting construction or industrial projects.
Skills
  • General knowledge of construction tools and their proper applications.
  • General knowledge of hardware types, sizes, grades, and material specifications.
  • Ability to read measurements and verify material dimensions.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
