The Residential Support Specialists (daytime) ensure the safety, security, and smooth daily operation of the program house and its guests. During the day, this position plays a key role in maintaining a supportive, organized, and welcoming environment for residents by monitoring the facility, assisting with resident needs and meals, promoting community standards, and communicating effectively with other staff and program management.
Overnight Residential Support Specialists (nighttime) provide a consistent and supportive presence during overnight hours. This position ensures the safety and well-being of residents, maintains facility security, and responds promptly to emergencies or urgent resident needs. Between midnight and 6:00 AM, the staff member is permitted to sleep but must be able to awaken and respond as needed.
Salary & Hours$16 - $18/Hr, Up to 20 Hrs/Week
Qualifications & ExpectationsKey Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and security of residents and the program house at all times
- Monitor the facility throughout the shift, including common areas and entry points, to maintain a calm and orderly environment.
- Maintain a supportive, welcoming, and structured living atmosphere for residents.
- Assist residents with daily needs, requests, and problem-solving as appropriate.
- Support meal-related routines (e.g., helping residents access meals, maintaining meal areas, or coordinating mealtime logistics).
- Promote and reinforce community living standards, house expectations, and respectful resident behavior.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, safety concerns, or urgent resident needs.
- Communicate effectively with program management and other staff regarding shift updates, incidents, resident concerns, and operational needs.
- Document shift activities, resident interactions, and any incidents in required logs or reporting systems.
- For overnight shifts, provide consistent on-site coverage; sleep is permitted between 12:00 AM–6:00 AM but must remain able to wake and respond immediately if needed.
- Help ensure smooth daily/overnight operations by addressing routine facility issues within scope and escalating concerns when necessary.
Requirements
- Demonstrate the ability to work with guests in a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and trauma-informed manner, recognizing the impact of trauma on behavior and needs.
- Remain calm, alert, and effective during crises or unexpected situations, and to follow emergency protocols appropriately.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, communicate clearly, and maintain professional boundaries with residents.
- Willingness and ability to assist with basic cooking, meal preparation, or meal coordination as needed during shifts.
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment, including light housekeeping tasks and reinforcing resident cleanliness standards.
- Consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependability, especially for overnight coverage.
- Ability to monitor the facility, enforce house guidelines respectfully, and identify/respond to safety concerns.
- Ability to complete required logs, incident reports, and shift communication clearly and in a timely manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively with program staff and communicate resident needs, concerns, or incidents
- Ability to move throughout the house, respond quickly when needed, and remain on-site for the full shift,
promptly.
