Under general supervision of the Streets Superintendent, the Laborer II is responsible for the operation of a variety of construction/maintenance equipment, and performing manual labor activities. The Laborer II should provide competent, skilled labor for the Borough of Phoenixville's Streets Department in maintaining the integrity and safety of the Borough and right of way infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive commercial weight, single-axle vehicles
• Salt and plow roads
• Operate and tow equipment
• Dig and fill trenches for water and sewer lines
• Pick up debris, rake leaves, cut grass, and shovel snow
• Clean and wash equipment and machinery
• Assist in the repair of water and sewer lines
• Enter confined spaces such as manholes
• Maintain the area address system by work such as, but not limited to, installation of directional signage, street names, and other signs
• Maintenance of walking paths including: mulching, weeding, aeration of turf, fertilizing, equipment repairs, tree trimming, and trash/recycling removal
• Assist the Sanitation Department and other departments as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent;
Two years' experience relating to construction, maintenance, and/or repair is preferred;
Ability to use standard construction and landscaping equipment, tools, machines, and vehicles;
Must possess general knowledge and ability to operate Borough-owned vehicles, equipment, and hand and power tools;
Must possess ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in all weather conditions;
Must have the ability to meet approved physical standards

Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B, without air brake restriction
