Our client is a food manufacturing company that operates 3 plants and 2 distribution centres. The Controller will manage financial operations and partner with plant leadership.
Responsibilities   Serve as the key finance business partner to plant leadership, supporting a multi‑site manufacturing operation.
50% Financial Reporting & Analysis: month‑end close, financial reporting, EBITDA bridge analysis, margin analysis, variance analysis, financial statement review and presentations.
50% Operations Support & Business Partnering: partner closely with Plant Managers and Operations leaders; provide operational finance support and insights; translate financial results into actionable business recommendations; present results to senior leadership, including CEO and CFO; act as the right hand to the Plant Manager on financial and operational matters.
Lead an accounting team of 5 FTEs, setting goals, coaching, mentoring, training, and managing performance.
Engage with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure accurate operational reporting: yield and labour efficiency, SKU mix impact, labour and operational expenses, inventory balances and DIO, AFE review, cost‑saving initiatives, and performance tracking.
Participate in regular senior executive meetings, presenting year‑over‑year performance and actionable outcomes to CFO, VP Finance Operations, CEO, COO, and Plant Manager.
Drive process improvements to increase accounting efficiency and value‑add activities.
Manage month‑end close process with thorough variance analysis and meet all deadlines.
Support closing timelines and help business partners improve processes.
Maintain strong partnerships with grocery customers, ensuring a strong working capital position.
Manage cash flow by reporting cash movements and monitoring working capital levels.
Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls and regulatory compliance, including monthly balance sheet and account reconciliations.
Coordinate with Treasury, intercompany divisions, and external audits; prepare required information and meet deadlines; liaise with other Controllers to share best practices.
Qualifications   Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration.
Professional accounting designation (CMA/ CGA/ CA/ CPA) and at least 10 years of progressive experience.
Manufacturing experience, preferably in food processing.
Demonstrated independent controllership experience, including operations accounting, standard costing, and business analysis.
Strong knowledge of ASPE and ability to apply guidance.
Proven leadership and people‑management skills; experience developing and coaching a team.
Salary  Competitive salary in the range $140,000 - $160,000 per year, with performance‑based bonuses available.
