What is the project?
The Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program involves designing and building a new deep-water intake in Lake Ontario to improve the plant's cooling system. This will involve:
- A 1.5 km-long tunnel, built by a pressurized TBM (10.15 m diameter slurry TBM);
- Two vertical shafts (onshore and offshore);
- An offshore modular intake structure, resting on the lake bed.
The project is distinguished by its proximity to an active nuclear site, requiring rigorous standards of safety, planning and coordination.
What you will do:
As an HR Generalist, you will Manage labor and union relations for a unionized workforce. Oversee HR operations, payroll processing and employee relations in compliance with labor laws and union agreements. You will also support managers, resolve workplace conflicts, and ensure effective communication across teams.
Concretely, your tasks will be:
Labor & Union Relations
Act as the primary HR point of contact for unionized employeesLead the management of grievances, disciplinary actions, investigations, and dispute resolution, in accordance with collective agreementsSupport labor-management discussions and ongoing union relationsIdentify potential labor relations risks and recommend preventive actionsHR Operations, Employee Relations & Payroll
Administer HR policies and procedures related to unionized staffEnsure proper implementation and adherence to the collective agreementProvide guidance and support to employees on HR-related mattersSupport managers in handling attendance, performance, and conduct issuesFacilitate effective communication between management and unionized employeesManage and resolve workplace conflicts involving both unionized and non‑unionized employees, including complex and escalated casesSupport change management initiatives within a unionized contextAdvise senior management during collective bargaining negotiationsEnsure HR practices comply with labor laws, company policies, and union contractsMaintain accurate and confidential employee recordsPromote a positive, compliant, and respectful work environmentProcess payroll for union & non-union employeesBachelor’s degree in human resources or another related fieldProgress toward or completion of CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset5-8 years experience in Human Resources management, with a strong focus on labor and union relationsProven experience working with local unionsPrevious experience construction‑related projects are preferredStrong knowledge of local employment laws and labor relations practicesExperience processing payroll with ADPAbility to build, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, and union representativesHigh level of discretion, diplomacy, and professional judgmentExcellent communication skillsPourquoi nous rejoindre ?Gross annual salary between 80K and 95K, depending on experience and profile4 vacation weeks & 3 emergency/sickness days paid;Annual bonuses;Group Health Insurance (premium participation including virtual health care system);Wellness spending account;Career development opportunities;A cosmopolite and inclusive work environment;Attractive and challenging project.Entité
