Position Overview
Bake Mark is seeking an experienced, highly analytical Director of Financial Reporting to own the integrity and clarity of the company's consolidated financial reporting and to strengthen the connection between Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, and business operations.
The Director will be responsible for turning Bake Mark's accounting data into meaningful insights that help leadership understand business performance, identify opportunities, and make better decisions.
The Director will own the integrity of Bake Mark's consolidated financial statements across its U.S. and Canadian legal entities and its network of approximately 40 branches. The scope includes consolidated Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual reporting, balance sheet and cash flow reporting, reserves and other significant estimates, and the management reporting relied upon by the executive team and the company's private equity sponsor.
As a portfolio company of Clearlake Capital Group, Bake Mark operates in a reporting environment with high expectations: a disciplined monthly close and lender and sponsor reporting requirements, all with an emphasis on accuracy, documentation, and timeliness. The Director will work closely with Accounting, Finance, branch management, and external auditors to meet those expectations while continuously improving the quality and efficiency of the reporting process.
The successful candidate will bring the financial discipline of an experienced accounting and reporting professional, combined with the curiosity, business orientation, and communication skills of a strong finance leader.
Role Mandate
The Director of Financial Reporting will be responsible for building a more insightful and actionable view of Bake Mark's financial performance. The role will:
- Coordinate with the Director of Accounting to ensure timeliness, consistency and accuracy of financial statements
- Produce the Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Consolidated Financial Statements in accordance with reporting timelines.
- Develop and enhance clear and consistent reporting of financial performance across the enterprise.
- Review and explain the underlying business drivers behind results.
- Embrace the philosophy of continuous process improvement in relation to quality, consistency, and appropriateness of management reporting.
- Develop processes and procedures to enable leaders to move from reviewing historical results to taking informed action.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Financial Reporting
- Lead the preparation, review, and analysis of consolidated Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Financial Statements.
- Ensure financial results are reconciled, accurate, complete, timely, and consistent with the company's accounting records and reporting standards.
- Coordinate, enhance and/or develop key financial metrics that clearly explain revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, profitability and working capital.
- Analyze actual performance against budget, forecast, prior-year results, and relevant operating benchmarks.
- Prepare executive-level reporting packages highlighting the most important performance drivers, risks, trends, and opportunities.
- Present financial results in a manner that is clear and useful to executive, finance, sales, and operating leaders.
- Ensure consistency of mapping across all entities as it relates to categorization of expenses, reporting definitions, methodologies, controls, and supporting documentation.
Accounting and FP&A Partnership
- Serve as a primary bridge between Accounting and Finance teams.
