Operating from our facility in Pico Rivera, California, we serve food manufacturers, national retailers, and private label brands across the United States. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our SQF, HACCP, GMP, and Kosher certifications, and in the rigorous standards we hold ourselves and our suppliers to every day.

Position Overview:

De Silva Brothers & Company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our QA department. This is a key leadership role — the second-in-command within the department — responsible for supporting the QA Manager in overseeing all aspects of food safety, product quality, regulatory compliance, and supplier verification. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in food manufacturing quality systems and thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities: Quality Assurance & Food Safety
  • Assist the QA Manager in overseeing day-to-day quality assurance operations across all product lines including spices, herbs, blends, and co-packed goods
  • Enforce compliance with HACCP, SQF, GMP, Kosher, and all applicable federal and state food safety regulations
  • Monitor and document microbiological and chemical testing of incoming ingredients and finished products
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure continued adherence to food safety standards
  • Act as QA Manager designee in their absence, providing leadership and decision-making authority for the department
  • Support the vendor approval and ongoing verification program, including review of Certificates of Analysis, product specs, and Kosher certificates
  • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier compliance documentation and annual review status
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain and update QA records, SOPs, HACCP plans, and regulatory documentation
  • Prepare and respond to customer requests for Product Specifications, Certificates of Analysis, and quality documentation
  • Ensure traceability records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready at all times
  • Support third-party audits (SQF, Kosher, customer audits) and help implement corrective actions
Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Supervise and mentor QA team members, providing guidance and performance feedback
  • Collaborate with production, R&D, and procurement teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement
  • Lead investigations into non-conformances, customer complaints, and product holds; oversee root cause analysis and CAPA processes
Qualifications: Required
  • 3–6 years of experience in quality assurance or food safety within a food manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GMP, and FDA food safety regulations
  • Experience with microbiological and chemical testing procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and develop a team
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • HACCP certification (PCQI or equivalent)
  • Experience in spice, herb, seasoning, or dry ingredient processing
  • Familiarity with co-packing and private label operations
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

  • Annual salary: $72,000–$82,000 depending on experience
  • 401(k) and 401(k) Match
