Distribution Material Handler

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES- Accurately load and unload trailers of palletized and non-palletized product and POS material.
- Utilize manual and power material handling equipment.
- Sort and place products or POS materials on racks or shelves according to predetermined designated locations.
- Accurately assemble customer orders from stock, place orders on pallets, wrap pallets with stretch film, and prepare for shipping.
- Mark and label incoming products with identifying information (date code, product description and code, case count).
- Mark and label outgoing products with identifying information (route #/BIN location, pallet count).
- Verify amounts of product/POS materials received.
- Use technology (RF scanning and voice picking equipment) during local checkout process according to company operation guidelines.
- Operate material handling equipment to transport stored items within the warehouse.
- Prepare and organize warehouse for daily cycle count inventory and shopping activities.
- Complete daily maintenance power equipment checklist.
- Report defective equipment.
- Practice and adhere to safety, food safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
- Keep work area clean and remove trash from floor.
- Store supplies in designated areas.
- Keep work area aisles and exits clear and free from obstructions.
- Follow safe lifting/carrying instructions for various sizes, shapes, and weights and identify/report defective equipment.
- Report all job-related injuries or property damage to supervision.
- Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives including 5S (sort, set, shine, standardize, and sustain).
- May perform other duties as required.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Vision: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.
- Noise level usually moderate.
High school diploma or GED and/or one year of experience.
Candidate must be willing to travel to different locations in Carson, CA.
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
