Job Title: Secondary Social Studies Teacher - Certified in one or more of the following areas:
World History, US History, Oklahoma History
Qualifications: Credentials, as required by the State of Oklahoma.
Reports to: Site Principal and/or Assistant Principal
Performance Responsibilities:
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the district's curriculum goals and state standards, as well as the individual needs of each pupil.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences that effectively utilize the available time for instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluates pupil's academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares reports relating to pupil's progress.
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
- Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
- Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
- Based on the position, may coach, participate in extra-curricula activities, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Terms of Employment: Number of calendar days and compensation based on approved certified schedule and employee work calendars
Evaluation: Evaluation by site principal and/or assistant principal in accordance with BOE Policy DNA Teacher Evaluation
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, squat frequently.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently.
- Ability to do outside duties in inclement weather.
Ability to walk or move long distances from location to location around the building multiple times each day.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $47,200 Per Year
