Job Description & How to Apply Below
This is a field-first role. Your days are spent on job sites supporting telecom and utility construction, with GIS and mapping tools serving as part of how you document and deliver your work.
What You'll Do:
- Inspect Outside Plant contractors' work in progress to ensure contract specifications are met, and note any exceptions.
- Report discrepancies between contract specifications and completed work to the Project Resident or supervisor.
- Survey, verify, and locate existing telecom utilities in the field, including the use of cable location equipment.
- Stake proposed telecom facility paths and locations; map roads and structures within the project area.
- "Redline" construction prints and prepare "as-built" records, revising staking sheets and schematics to reflect field changes.
- Complete daily Field Observation Reports and weekly progress reports covering materials, quantities, and on-site inventory.
- At project completion, submit fiber-loss reports, cable schematics, and final as-built records; perform final inspection and clean-up audit.
- Capture and update field data in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Field Maps or Collector) and help keep geospatial data and attributes accurate.
- Field data collection experience in telecommunications or utility construction (Outside Plant experience strongly preferred).
- Working knowledge of OSP and/or utility-related construction practices - staking, inspection, and as-built documentation.
- Basic familiarity with ESRI GIS tools (ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, or Collector). You don't need to be a GIS analyst - you should simply be comfortable capturing and editing field data on a tablet.
- Strong attention to detail and a can-do, problem-solving attitude.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet customer specifications.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass a substance abuse screening test.
- Regular travel to job sites required (typically weekly).
- Walk and/or stand for long periods on even and uneven ground.
- Drive for lengthy and sporadic periods throughout an 8- to 10-hour workday.
- Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Stoop and bend frequently while in the field.
- Manage occasional light-to-medium lifting.
- Standard schedule:
Monday-Friday (8-hour shifts), with occasional variations based on project needs.
- Competitive pay based on experience, education, and credentials.
- Comprehensive benefits package:
- Medical, Dental, Vision, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance.
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) - PEC gifts company stock to employees at no cost to you, building additional retirement value as the company grows.
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match (25% match on the first 6% of contributions).
- Paid Time Off (PTO) accruing from day one.
- 8 paid holidays per year.
- Career growth in an employee-owned company that values professional development.
- A team-oriented culture where your contributions truly make a difference!
