Job SummaryAre you the type of person who is self‑motivated in your desire to achieve welding excellence and is eager to learn and apply technical welding principles? In this role you will assist both production and engineering functions as they relate to welded connections. We’ll look for engaged individuals with a strong desire for professional development, excellent communication skills, and who strive to improve quality, productivity, and safety throughout Vermeer welding.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Perform visual inspection of welds, auditing of weldments, and review results with leadership.
- Communicate new and unique ideas to improve Vermeer products and welding processes. Help quantify cost savings for equipment investments.
- Conduct print reviews on engineering change notices (ECN) for new and existing weldments. Create change request forms (CRF) related to welding errors or necessary clarifications within prints. Support new product launches through both design/prototype phase and production manufacturing.
- Provide on‑the‑job training to new welders and provide guidance to incumbent welders. Assist in both qualifying welders and welding procedures as needed.
- Perform basic weld failure/root cause analysis to resolve warranty related issues/internal 8D tasks.
- Document and record inspection/audit results, welder qualification continuity, print reviews, quality problem resolutions, weld process audits, and special process improvement projects.
- High School Diploma.
- Technical School or skilled trade program in welding technology, auto tech, diesel tech, industrial/manufacturing systems tech, ag systems tech or related field.
- Minimum three years experience related to welding in non‑destructive testing or visual inspection, maintenance, tooling, continuous improvement, or quality technician – and physical welding experience.
- Basic understanding of weld design guidelines, standards/codes, problem solving, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to visually inspect welding quality against the appropriate acceptance criteria required. Hands on skill in SMAW, FCAW, SAW, CAC, and OFC/PAC for manual and automated processes preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safely operating general industrial tools required. Hands‑on skill operating company or similar industrial, construction, or agricultural/environmental equipment preferred.
- Vermeer Welder Level III or qualified FCAW + GMAW‑S (pipe) preferred. GMAW‑P qualification required.
- American Welding Society member or Certified Welding Inspector or Supervisor (CWI/CWS) preferred.
