Accountant, Accounts Receivable​/ Collections, Financial Reporting

The City of Pierre is looking for an Accountant with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting that is detail oriented with strong motivation to join the Finance Office team. The Accountant will provide support to the Finance Officer and Deputy in all aspects of financial recording and reporting. As a key member of the Accounting Team, the Accountant is responsible for receipting incoming payments to the City, preparing general ledger accounting entries, and managing the accounts receivable subsidiary ledger, miscellaneous customer billings, posting amendments or corrections to invoices, and receipting payments.

This position will also assist with managing delinquent customer accounts in collection status by maintaining accurate account records, various monthly general ledger journal entries, general ledger account analysis, and Department Financial Reporting and Analysis. This position will manage the annual business license renewal process and assist with annual 1099 reporting, as well as support the monthly bank reconciliation process, monthly sales tax submission, and review and post the daily bank deposit.

When needed, this position also assists with various administrative duties to include assisting customers in person and on the phone.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

HIRING WAGE: $32.03 minimum plus comprehensive benefit package including 100% employer paid employee health, dental and life insurance along with a 6% employer match to the South Dakota Retirement System and 12 paid holidays. Up to $2000 annual educational assistance available. Wage offer will be based upon actual education and experience.
