This is a part-time position with the Office of the Attorney General. For more information on the Office of the Attorney General, please visithttp://atg.sd.gov .
This position provides administrative support for the Office of Attorney General. It provides secretarial/clerical duties using legal terminology, procedures and documents which includes:
- obtaining and providing information by telephone and in person in a professionally and courteously;
- maintaining composure, professionalism, efficiency, and accuracy during periods of peak workload, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities;
- greeting office guests in person in a professional, courteous, and exceptional customer-service;
- adapting established procedures to meet operational needs;
- typing, proofing, and/or finalizing confidential and sensitive letters, memo, legal documents and legal forms;
- other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- experience with secretarial and administrative support duties;
- dependable, friendly, approachable and positive attitude;
- ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner with the public and in an office environment;
- independent work habits that keep them on track;
- ability to accomplish tasks without direct supervision.
Knowledge of:
- office practices and procedures;
- excellent spoken and written English grammar.
Skills to:
- use office technology, computerized information systems, and standard office software used to support administrative operations;
- type at a minimum of 60 words per minute.
Ability to:
- work independently on assignments with accuracy;
- pass a background investigation.
This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.
This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment.
