Job Description
The following duties will be performed in any combination based on the type of construction project and its lifecycle:
Performs basic to moderately complex estimating tasks including performing quantity take‑offs, creating material price lists, and researching labor, material and equipment costs. Utilizes Timberline to prepare or assist in preparation of Opinions of Probable Cost of Construction (OPCC) and design‑build projects. Researches historical data and compiles summary reports to develop guidelines and precedents for future estimates. Receives, reviews and files pricings from project managers or procurement against OPCCs.
Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for pricing and bidder interest. Participates in pre‑bid job walks and bid‑day quote tabulations. Supervises and directs overall project activities of basic to moderately complex assignments. Provides technical, field and site administration support. Prepares and reviews submittals, issues construction documents, and answers field crew questions. Interprets specifications and drawings for foremen and superintendents. Maintains field as‑built drawings.
Handles RFIs and assists with change management. Coordinates material and equipment delivery. Develops purchase orders, subcontracts, change orders and payment applications. Drafts scopes of work, performs surveying and verifies final locations. Prepares required documentation such as Project Execution Plans, bid documents, status reports, operation manuals and warranties. Assists design engineers and labor/subcontractors with site conditions. Manages small and/or basic project elements.
Creates project schedules and financial spreadsheets. Updates engineering and construction information. Develops baseline schedules, WBSs, logic ties and durations. Works with controls team to update progress, change durations, and manage critical path. Collaborates on Time Impact Analysis schedules. Generates reports for subcontract change requests, bid comparisons, new work estimates and reschedules. Supports subconsultant schedule and cost submittals. Provides technical guidance and training to junior staff.
Reviews junior staff work. Develops the Quality Control Plan, reviews contract specs, quality plans, submittals and drawings. Conducts or assists with field inspections, verifies quality of workmanship and materials, documents deficiencies, and updates QA/QC reporting. Works with Health & Safety professionals to identify DFOWs, develop AHA, and incorporate into the Health and Safety Plan. Evaluates safety performance of subcontractors. Assists in completing daily job reports and safety reporting.
Controls hazardous conditions and communicates near misses. Develops VDC plans and deploys construction technology. Supports modeling efforts, quantity takeoffs from BIM, drone data analysis, clash detection and collaboration. Assists in solution collaboration via VDC, BIM, and traditional methods. Prepares and analyzes Estimated Cost for Completion. Monitors and analyzes budgets by task code. Contributes to period-sensitive reporting, including labor and general conditions metrics.
Conducts advanced change order tracking and supports change management. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency contingent on duties. Equivalent directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Driving RequirementsAn appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
Skills & AbilitiesGood ability to identify moderately complex problems and discrepancies, independently research and analyze causes, and recommend corrective actions. Excellent computation, verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with technology typical in engineering and construction. Ability to read and interpret construction and engineering documents and drawings.
