SDPB Broadcast Operations Technician (Temporary

South Dakota Public Broadcasting is a statewide, joint radio and television network, serving as South Dakota’s NPR and PBS affiliates. The role is to operate and monitor television and radio transmitting equipment, read meters, observe transmitter components and equipment for possible issues, and assist in minor maintenance of broadcast equipment and switching of video and audio sources.

• Operate and monitor television and radio transmitting equipment.
• Read meters, observe transmitter components and equipment for possible problems.
• Assist in minor maintenance of broadcast equipment and switching of video and audio sources.

• Ability to work independently without continuous supervision.
• Knowledge of broadcast operations, FCC rules and regulations, IP networking, and electronics terminology.
• Ability to navigate MS Windows folders and files, use MS Office products, follow broadcast station program schedules, take meter readings, and work independently.

• Position is 24 hours per week. Schedule requires some evenings and overnight shifts in a climate‑controlled room.
• Temporary, non‑benefited position exempt from civil service.
