This is a full-time position with the Bureau of Information and Technology - South Dakota Public Broadcasting (SDPB). SDPB is a statewide, joint radio and television network, that is also South Dakota's NPR and PBS affiliates. We seek an energetic, organized and goal-focused professional journalist to cover daily news, feature reporting and special project assignments for radio and television with the ability to also produce strong social media content.
This position is a high-profile member of the SDPB journalism team and will lead work on a statewide network for a discerning audience that appreciates and supports good and ethical local story telling.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- building and maintaining skills that span enterprise and feature daily news reporting;
- ability to think broadly about story formats and presentation across all digital platforms;
- developing professional relationships that assist in news gathering; while remaining objective and professional at all times;
- audio and video recording and editing; and,
- ability to work closely with the news director and embrace learning through the script editing and production process.
A degree in journalism or media studies and the equivalent of 2-3 years of full-time experience in journalism is preferred. Knowledge of South Dakota, and its news makers are a plus. The successful candidate can work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced news situation and provide accurate information to our audience. Will also have sound news judgment and a clear, pleasant delivery.
