Join Our Team as a Locum Physician – General Medicine in Houston, TX

Are you a dedicated medical professional seeking a flexible opportunity to make a meaningful impact while enjoying professional independence? We are actively seeking experienced General Medicine Physicians to serve on a locum basis in Houston, TX.

This role offers the chance to provide vital assessments and support Veterans across the country, contributing to a noble cause with a flexible schedule tailored to your availability.

In this role, you will conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, primarily interview-based with some physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing. You will operate independently, utilizing your clinical expertise to perform non-treatment evaluations with no prescribing or treatment duties involved. This position is ideal for practitioners with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine, particularly those experienced with compensation and pension evaluations.

Required Skills:

Valid medical license in your state

Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields

Strong interviewing skills and physical assessment capabilities

Ability to conduct efficient, comprehensive evaluations

Excellent communication and documentation skills

Commitment to accuracy and professionalism

Nice to Have

Skills:

Previous experience conducting Compensation & Pension exams or working with Veterans

Familiarity with medical certification, prior credentialing experience

Ability to work independently and manage administrative responsibilities

Knowledge of relevant laws and guidelines applicable to Veterans’ assessments

Preferred

Education and Experience:

MD or DO degree from an accredited institution

Minimum of 2 years clinical practice experience

Experience with physical assessments and report writing for VA or similar evaluations

Other Requirements:

Must own a private office space in Houston, TX

Ability to perform assessments on a PRN, ongoing basis

Willingness to conduct assessments at scheduled times, including occasional travel

Certifications:

None required for this role

Travel reimbursements included; no additional fees for certifications or portal training

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $624.00, with flexible schedules including half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts. The position includes benefits such as weekly pay via direct deposit, comprehensive medical coverage, paid sick leave, licensure and travel reimbursements when applicable, and ongoing support from a dedicated team committed to your success. A one-time bonus of $650 is available upon completing initial training and your first exams.
