Together, you’ll guide children through age-appropriate activities that support their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with kids and values building strong relationships with families and fellow educators.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
· CPR and First Aid certification (will be provided)
Responsibilities:
· Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities.
· Supervise and engage with children during playtime, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
· Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding children's progress and development.
· Maintain a clean and organized classroom, including preparing materials and resources for activities.
- Assist in food prep for children.
· Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
-Assist as needed in all Oahe Family YMCA childcare programs of children from 0 to 12 years of age.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week position. Hours of operation are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.## Qualifications
Skills:
The required skills for this position include strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for interacting with children, parents, and colleagues. Organizational skills are vital for maintaining a structured classroom environment and preparing educational materials. Patience and adaptability are necessary to respond to the diverse needs of young learners effectively. Preferred skills such as knowledge of early childhood development principles will enhance the assistant's ability to support the lead teacher in delivering high-quality education.
Additionally, creativity in developing engaging activities will contribute to a dynamic learning atmosphere.
Additional Expectations
· Certification in CPR and First Aid within the first 90 days of employment (training provided by YMCA)
· Successful candidates must pass a background check before starting work.
