Applicant Requirements: Application must be for a current part‑time or full‑time student with a minimum of 6 credit hours in the upcoming or immediately preceding semester.
Position DescriptionThis position’s primary duty is to assist the School Programs Coordinator with developing and teaching programs related to environmental science, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor skills to school groups, college level students, and homeschool audiences. The intern also assists in developing and teaching community and group programs under the supervision of the School Programs Coordinator. The role includes class preparation, coordination, development, and general maintenance of indoor and outdoor campus facilities.
The internship runs from August to December and typically requires 20‑40 hours per week. Preferred interns can accommodate the main schools‑group schedule of 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
- Current enrollment as a part‑time or full‑time student in a college, university, or technical institute.
- Completion of at least one academic year (nine months) of the chosen program by the start of the internship.
- Preference for junior/senior standing, South Dakota residents, and South Dakota institution students.
- Experience outdoors and superior organizational skills are preferred.
