Applicant must be a current part‑time or full‑time student (minimum six credit hours) in the upcoming semester or the immediately preceding semester.
Position DescriptionThis School Programs Intern position will include leading and assisting education programming in outdoor skills such as fishing, camping, and hunting, as well as nature‑based conservation and South Dakota heritage programs. The position will primarily serve school groups, ranging from preschool to college students, and even in‑service teachers. Interns assist with programs developed and scheduled by the program coordinator, develop and lead their own programs, and work at the information desk to meet programming and customer service needs.
Candidate must enjoy working with people of all ages and spending time outdoors. This is a fun, fast paced job that will give you valuable teaching experience in an informal setting. All training is provided.
Coursework in Education, Outdoor Education, Communication, Public Relations, Biology, Natural Resources Management or similar environmental education will aid in consideration.
Qualifications- Enrolled as a part‑time, full‑time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time of application, and have completed one year (nine months) of the chosen program by the start of the internship.
- Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior or senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
- Must have enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
