South Dakota State University seeks applications for a full-time instructor of music theory for the 2026-27 academic year.
Job DescriptionTeach the sophomore theory sequence, a course in form and analysis, and a course in orchestration. Additional responsibilities will be assigned in either applied flute, double reeds, or collaborative piano depending on the successful candidate's expertise.
QualificationsA master's degree in the music discipline is required, doctorate or ABD is preferred. Experience in teaching theory is desired, as is advanced training in either flute, double reeds, or collaborative piano.
Located in Brookings, South Dakota, the SDSU School of Performing Arts is housed in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center, a stunning facility with outstanding spaces designed specifically for performance, rehearsal, and instruction in the disciplines of music, theatre, and dance.
