Serves as an Engineering Technician providing support to the Construction Management and Dam Safety systems at Oahe Project Office.
Major Duties- Utilizes technical design skills operating computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) systems.
- Revises previously developed drawings to incorporate changes required by redlines, amendments and modifications.
- Develops and reviews plans, specifications, and estimates for proposed projects.
- Conducts inspection and analysis of various types of construction to assure that all aspects of the plans, specifications and drawings are being complied with.
- Utilizes approved contract drawings and supplemental change orders to determine details of work required by the contractor.
- Consults with and advises project engineers and others as to the availability of equipment and facilities to support test projects.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience;
if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes experience using standard drafting techniques or experience using computer-aided design and drafting systems to produce and update engineering drawings as directed by others. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS‑04).
OR
Education:
Four‑year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 3 of the 12 semester hours must have been in drafting.

Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (
