Scope Of Job
The Senior Agriculture or Commercial Credit Analyst (SCA) assists all lending personnel and credit administration in serving the financial needs of the bank’s agriculture or commercial customers. The role includes overall analysis of agriculture and commercial credits to determine risk to the bank, training of bank personnel, specialized analytical functions for the bank-wide lending process, credit analysis, loan presentation preparation, and review of credits.
The SCA evaluates risk in compliance with Bank West Loan Policy, procedures, and applicable regulations. The analyst works closely with the Credit Analyst Manager and provides backup as needed. The role protects the bank’s security interest through accurate analysis of credit information and careful maintenance of loan presentations.
- Review Agriculture or Commercial Submission Request forms submitted to the Credit Analyst Inbox for accuracy and completeness and return forms to lending personnel as needed to ensure continuing credit flow.
- Review and assess loan presentations over $1 million and those required for the Loan Committee to ensure documentation is in required format, provides all necessary information, accurate and clearly communicates analysis outcomes. Work with analysts to update presentations and forward them for approval.
- Handle retrieval of signatures for LC packages, submit to Executive Assistants, review agendas, and lock credits in Moody’s once approved by the Loan Committee within required timelines.
- Maintain records logging analyst errors, lending submission errors, credit activity and other required information.
- Update and maintain records for Financial Reviews and Global Cashflows that must be completed annually and provide them to the Credit Analyst Manager as needed.
- Provide leadership to the Credit Analysis Department and lending personnel, including guidance, training, problem solving, and review of information.
- Perform all duties of Credit Analyst III and act as backup as needed during high credit volume periods.
- Work as a team with departmental counterparts on planning and implementing assigned projects and products.
- Participate on various committees and project teams as deemed appropriate by management.
- Attend, actively participate in organization‑specific training offered, and Quality Service programs.
- Adhere to all applicable policies and procedures of Bank West organization.
- Community involvement is strongly encouraged.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Applicable experience and/or related certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 8 years’ experience in a related field.
- Attend a 2‑year training course related to position and/or career path.
- Experience in the credit analysis of larger, complex credit relationships using software systems.
- Excellent credit/financial analytical skills.
- Strong math and calculation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and follow‑up skills.
- Ability to stay highly organized, multi‑task, change priorities quickly, meet deadlines, and maintain strong follow‑up and organizational skills.
- Ability to work dependently and/or independently under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust schedules to complete responsibilities.
- Ability to organize and handle multiple responsibilities while delivering quality external and/or internal customer service.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with external and/or internal customers.
- Knowledge or ability to learn regulatory requirements pertinent to performance of specified duties.
- Knowledge of business lending underwriting skills including analysis of financial statements, tax returns, and cashflows.
- Knowledge of banking terminology and procedures.
- Knowledge of Bank West products and services.
- Ability to skillfully use a variety of application software, learn computer programs, and comprehend program output.
- Adherence to Federal Privacy Standards and Bank West requirements for electronic communication and Social Engineering standards.
- Capability to participate directly or indirectly in increasing Bank West’s presence in markets as required by the organization.
