Position: Program Assistant I (Temporary)

Description

Conduct in state Central Registry checks for Child Protection Services, Office of Licensing and Accreditation, Child Care Services, Self Requests and requests from other states. Conduct out of state Central Registry checks for Child Protection Services, Office of Licensing and Accreditation and Child Care Services on applicants who have lived outside of South Dakota in the past five years. Complete the Adam Walsh Fingerprint process for all applicants of foster care, kinship and employees with Group and Residential Facilities in the state.

This entails processing DCI and FBI fingerprint cards, review results and determine eligibility of the applicant.

General Requirements

The general qualification guideline is a high school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of
  • principles and practices of public administration;
  • supervision and other personnel management processes;
  • applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations;
  • general methods and processes in areas such as purchasing, budgeting, accounting, and other administrative activities pertinent to government operations;
  • computer systems and applications;
  • distribution methodologies.
Ability to
  • exercise independent judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions;
  • communicate information concisely and efficiently;
  • interpret objectives and develop practical applications.

Please note this is a temporary or seasonal, non-benefited position, exempt from civil service.
