As a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant you work as part of an integrated health care team with a supervising Physician and Behavioral Health Providers. You will utilize appropriate and effective patient care plans; provide immediate urgent care services to patients of all ages, interpret and integrate data to determine the appropriate diagnostic, therapeutic plan utilizing principles of health promotion and disease prevention.
Our medical providers develop and implement treatment plans for their patients which may include providing appropriate referrals for consultations. Within the scope of supervising physician's written delegated prescriptive authority, you provide prescriptions for medications to accomplish the treatment plan.
Providing patient‑focused care, you always take the time to instruct and counsel patients and their families about their treatment plan. You are also conscientious about completing appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered. Our medical providers develop a caring professional relationship with our relatives/patients and their families, providing education and assistance to promote better patient self‑care.
QUALIFICATIONS- Must have a Nurse Practitioner License in South Dakota.
- 2–3 years of mid‑level experience, preferred.
- Pass a federal background check.
- Provide Indian Preference documentation if claimed.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- CPR certified.
- Prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses and provide treatment.
- See relatives/patients of all ages.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.
- Gather health histories, perform physical examinations and diagnostic procedures.
- Develop and implement treatment plans.
- Document all patient interactions.
- Notify managing physicians about unusual or unexpected events or problems.
- Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families.
- Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
- Maintain confidentiality, comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Native American Culture and Traditions.
- Knowledge of x‑waver and Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder.
- Knowledge of Indian health Services RPMS/EHR (Electronic Health Record) computer system.
- Computer programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
- May sit for extended periods of time.
- Must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs using proper lifting techniques.
