Bakery Sales Associate

Job Overview

Weis Shops Bakers at 589 Hamlin Highway is hiring an associate to support our bakery department.

• Maintain a well‑stocked and visually appealing bakery department to meet customer demand.
• Greet customers with a smile, offer suggestions, and answer product questions in a courteous manner.
• Assist customers with order placement over the phone or in person, identifying desired size, flavor, and appearance.
• Set up special‑order tables during peak hours and busy shopping days.
• Arrange bakery cases and build displays as needed; write designs on cakes when required.
• Ensure all merchandise is fresh, properly priced, and displayed with correct signage.
• Handle spoiled, damaged, or near‑expiration products according to company procedures; remove unsaleable items to maintain quality.
• Participate in the production of breads, pastries, and other baked goods; use production logs and approved recipes.
• Perform general sanitation duties, following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to meet health and OSHA requirements.
• Dispose of waste properly.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, checking‑in, breaking‑down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack (training provided).
• Assist with baling cardboard or other related duties when trained.
• Help minimize shrinkage and control damages; report shortages or overages to management.
• Cooperate with co‑workers and supervisors to ensure smooth department and store operations.
• Continuously improve job performance and utilize all company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) such as cut‑resistant gloves, safety cutters, and footwear.
• Provide assistance in other departments as may be required.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) completed or in progress.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to perform all essential duties with or without accommodation.
