The Department of Public Safety is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a Capitol Protective Services (CPS) Monitor position. The primary duty involves monitoring security cameras across multiple buildings to detect potential threats and unlawful activities, promptly reporting to law enforcement. Additionally, the role includes answering phone calls, relaying messages, and maintaining an activity log.

- Monitor security cameras across state buildings to detect potential threats and unlawful activities.
- Report incidents promptly to law enforcement.
- Answer phone calls, relay messages, and maintain an activity log.
- Observe visitors entering the security room, detect prohibited items, and review x‑ray machines.
- Work all shifts, including mornings, days, nights, overnights, and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to follow instructions, move throughout the Capitol and other state buildings, maintain an activity log, and communicate effectively.
- Eligibility for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
- Successful applicant will undergo a background investigation; an arrest/conviction record may not bar employment.
- Optional:
