About the Organization

The Simulation team is a vital part of our Autonomous Vehicle organization, dedicated to refining the simulation ecosystem that underpins GM's autonomous driving technology. We create scalable tools and workflows to facilitate data‑driven decisions across AV development, validation, and testing. Collaborating with various teams including Autonomy, Systems, and Safety, we establish the simulation foundation essential for system assessment, enhancing development speed, and maintaining high‑quality standards for our autonomous vehicles.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build large‑scale test infrastructure and evaluation pipelines that quantify the accuracy and efficiency of simulation tests used in autonomous vehicle software validation.
  • Lead cross‑functional initiatives collaborating with Autonomy, Systems Engineering, and Data teams, integrating evaluation products and test operations into standard development workflows.
  • Develop innovative methodologies to assess and ensure the reliability and effectiveness of simulation test products at scale.
  • Determine technical roadmaps and strategic priorities, partnering with cross‑functional teams to implement new simulation technologies aligned with AV objectives.
  • Own and improve key evaluation metrics and KPIs for readiness and safety decisions; present insights and results to stakeholders through interactive dashboards.
  • Uphold high technical standards through architectural designs and code reviews, establishing best practices for the team.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in developing complex evaluation, simulation, or test frameworks.
  • Proficient in Python development for production systems, including unit testing and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and set strategies across multiple teams and technical areas.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of driving decisions and articulating technical details to diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in autonomous driving or robotics, particularly with large‑scale simulations and field experiments.
  • Background in validation and test strategies for safety‑critical products.
  • A data‑driven mindset with a knack for investigating anomalies and identifying root causes.
  • Familiarity with SQL, time‑series data analysis, and performance monitoring tools.
Hybrid/Remote

This position can be performed remotely; however, candidates within a 50‑mile radius of Sunnyvale or Mountain View are expected to report to those locations three times a week. Relocation benefits may be available for those moving to the Bay Area.

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges from $160,200 to $246,300, with the offered amount depending on various factors.

Incentives based on company, job, and individual performance are also available.
