Job Description
Join Oracle's dynamic Virtual Operating System (VOS) team, a key driver of innovation within Oracle Database. Our organization is at the forefront of developing foundational communication and infrastructure technologies vital to Oracle's flagship database products, including Oracle RAC and Exadata. We are looking for forward‑thinking individuals to help us continue our agile approach to building scalable networking services and enhance AI capabilities.
As a Lead Systems Architect, you will play a critical role in designing, architecting, and implementing product‑facing infrastructure and platform capabilities across vital domains: (1) networking and distributed systems services, including TCP/IP and HTTP/REST interfaces, (2) AI/agentic frameworks that boost developer efficiency with large codebases, and (3) advanced streaming analytics and integrations such as Kafka and Apache Arrow‑based stacks. Collaborating closely with various Oracle Database engineering teams, you will ensure the delivery of reliable and high‑quality features from the ideation stage through to production deployment and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities- Be accountable for crucial components of the Oracle Database VOS stack, overseeing end-to-end ownership from concept and design to implementation, testing, release, and production support.
- Lead the architecture and technical direction for new and evolving services that are utilized by multiple database subsystems, striking a balance between immediate specifications and broader applicability.
- Develop and refine networking and distributed systems infrastructure
, focusing on high performance, reliability, and operational excellence within TCP/IP and HTTP/REST protocols. - Design and implement AI/agentic frameworks and workflows to enhance developer productivity, including LLM‑assisted code comprehension and scalable solutions for managing large, complex codebases.
- Contribute to the enablement of streaming and analytics
, focusing on Kafka‑oriented integrations and Apache Arrow‑based analytics (such as Data Frames, Arrow Flight, and Arrow Flight SQL) to advance next‑generation observability and data workflows. - Collaborate cross‑functionally with database development teams to define requirements, integration points, and comprehensive test strategies, spanning functional, system, and performance testing.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for various groups within Oracle Database, guiding effective adoption and usage of the features and services you develop.
- Support field‑facing teams to diagnose and resolve production issues, actively contributing to root‑cause analysis and implementing long‑term solutions.
- Stay up‑to‑date with rapidly evolving industry and open‑source trends in systems, networking, AI, and streaming analytics; assess their relevance and promote pragmatic adoption to enhance Oracle Database's competitiveness.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively across teams, translating information into actionable designs, reviews, and implementation plans.
Certain customer or client‑facing roles may require compliance with applicable laws, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.
The hiring range provided is specific to this position only. The salary is set between $96,800 and $251,600 per annum and may include eligibility for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
