About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geologist to join their dynamic mining operations in Pietermaritzburg. This role is crucial for identifying, evaluating, and managing mineral resources. You will be an integral part of the exploration and extraction planning team, contributing directly to the company's success through detailed geological analysis and strategic recommendations. • Conduct geological surveys, mapping, and sampling to identify potential mineral deposits.
• Analyze rock and core samples to determine mineral content, structure, and economic viability.
• Develop and implement geological models and resource estimation techniques.
• Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and cross-sections for management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with mining engineers and geophysicists to optimize extraction strategies and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Monitor and interpret geological data from exploration drilling and existing mine sites.

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geological exploration and mining.
• Proficiency in geological software (e.g., ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Vulcan).
• Strong understanding of mineralogy, petrology, and structural geology.
• Experience with geophysical methods and data interpretation.
