Senior Geologist - Platinum Exploration

About the Role

Our client, a leading player in the mining industry , is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to spearhead critical platinum exploration initiatives in the Pietermaritzburg region. This pivotal role involves leveraging advanced geological techniques and data analysis to identify and assess new mineral deposits. You will be instrumental in guiding the company's exploration strategy, contributing directly to resource discovery and future growth, within a dynamic and safety-focused operational environment.

• Conduct detailed geological mapping and sampling in prospective exploration areas.
• Analyze and interpret geophysical and geochemical data to define target zones.
• Develop and manage exploration drilling programs, including core logging and assay interpretation.
• Prepare comprehensive geological reports, resource estimates, and technical presentations for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with environmental and community relations teams to ensure responsible exploration practices.
• Mentor junior geologists and provide technical guidance to exploration teams.

• Master's degree or higher in Geology or a related earth science field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with a strong focus on platinum group metals (PGM).
• Proficiency in geological software such as Leapfrog, ArcGIS, and ioGAS.
• Proven track record of discovering and defining mineral resources.
• Excellent understanding of geological models and data integration techniques.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work in remote field locations.
