POSITIONBus Aide
LOCATION:Transportation
REPORTS TO:Transportation Director
FLSA STATUS:Non-Exempt
TERMS:179-day position paid following the board-approved salary schedule
JOB GOAL:To assist the bus driver in transporting students who have exceptionalities in a safe, efficient, and timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS:- Must pass a drug screening test as required by state and local policies.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations
- Knowledge of techniques and procedures used in working with students who have special needs
- Ability to communicate effectively and develop relationships with children.
- Ability to communicate effectively and develop relationships with bus driver, parents, and school personnel.
- Ability to learn school bus rules, regulations, and safety procedures.
- Ability to secure students in a safe riding position and to reposition students as needed.
- Ability to learn First Aid and CPR.
- Ability to follow directions and work as a team.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
- Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Pike Road Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
