The Laundry/Housekeeper is responsible on assigned days for laundering for the residents, health center, and dining room such as washing, ironing, folding, sorting, etc. of clothing and linens. The Laundry/Housekeeper is also responsible on assigned days for the cleanliness and neatness of assigned apartments and common areas.

Shift and

Schedule:

full-time non-exempt position. 7am-3:30pm, 5 days/week with rotating weekends and holidays.

Essential Duties:

• Sort, wash, dry, and fold the Community laundry.
• Ensures that all Health Center laundry is properly sorted, washed and dried according to State and Federal regulations.
• Ensures that the laundry room is maintained in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition.
• Performs general housekeeping duties in apartments, such as vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and dusting all cleared flat surfaces.
• Performs general housekeeping duties of hallways and common areas as directed by supervisor.
• Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor.
• Maintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition.

Maintains resident confidentiality at all times.

Other Duties:

• Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
• Observes all safety rules and regulations.
• HIPAA Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality of protected health information.
• OIG Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state laws and regulations.
• Interacts with residents and coworkers in a friendly and respectful manner.

Qualifications:

Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.

• Commercial laundry experience and previous housekeeping experience is desirable but not required.

Ability to process 50-60 pounds of laundry at a time.

Compliance with North Oaks immunization requirements.

Physical Requirements /

Working Conditions:

Moderate to heavy physical effort 95% of the workday including repetitive folding movements, and strenuous pulling movements. Must be able to stoop and work from a kneeling position, perform repetitive bending, reaching and stretching. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. independently. Must be able to push and/or pull wheeled carts and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.

over tiled and carpeted surfaces over long distances. Must be able to operate a vacuum, work in confined spaces around furniture and breakable objects, and have constant contact with residents. Must be able to stand, reach, and walk 90% of the workday. May be exposed to communicable diseases from contaminated linens including influenza, HIV and Hepatitis. May be exposed to unpleasant odors, high heat levels, and laundry and cleaning chemicals.
